Films 201412

Netflix dus.

  1. Hotel Chevalier / Wes Anderson / 2007 / ***
A prologue of one heart-breaking history of love and the prologue of the travel told in The Darjeeling Limited (2007).
  2. App / Bobby Boermans / 2013 / *1/2
A young psychology student is drawn into the dark and fearful world of a diabolic and mysterious App that starts to terrorize her, distributing compromising photographs, videos and text messages about herself and delves deeper and deeper into her personal life, flawlessly exposing all of her deepest secrets.
  3. I Origins / Mike Cahill / 2014 / **1/2
A molecular biologist and his laboratory partner uncover evidence that may fundamentally change society as we know it.
(Lees dit interview met Marling: Talking Gluten-Free Living, and Other Cults, With Brit Marling)
  4. Another Earth / Mike Cahill / 2011 / ***
On the night of the discovery of a duplicate Earth in the Solar system, an ambitious young student and an accomplished composer cross paths in a tragic accident.
  5. The Damned / Víctor García / 2013 / *
After a family is involved in an accident, they take refuge in a secluded inn where they free a girl locked in a basement without knowing she’s an ancient evil spirit.
  6. Tracks / John Curran / 2014 / ***
A young woman goes on a 1,700-mile trek across the deserts of West Australia with four camels and her faithful dog.
  7. Maps to the Stars / David Cronenberg / 2014 / **
A tour into the heart of a Hollywood family chasing celebrity, one another and the relentless ghosts of their pasts.
  8. The Double / Richard Ayoade / 2013 / ***
A clerk in a government agency finds his unenviable life takes a turn for the horrific with the arrival of a new co-worker who is both his exact physical double and his opposite – confident, charismatic and seductive with women.
  9. The Maze Runner / Wes Ball / 2014 / *1/2
Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they’re all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow “runners” for a shot at escape.
De nieuwe Hunger Games est arrivé!
  10. Guardians of the Galaxy / James Gunn / 2014 / **1/2
A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe.
Hilarisch, ontspannend, onderhoudend. Meer van dat.
  11. [REC] 4: Apocalipsis / regisseur / 2014 / *
The television reporter Ángela is rescued from the building and taken to an oil tanker to be examined. However, it is unbeknown to the soldiers that she carries the seed of the mysterious demonic virus.
  12. Take This Waltz / Sarah Polley / 2011 / ***
A happily married woman falls for the artist who lives across the street.
  13. Panique au village / Stéphane Aubier & Vincent Patar / 2009 / ***
Animated plastic toys like Cowboy, Indian and Horse have problems, too. Cowboy and Indian’s plan to surprise Horse with a homemade birthday gift backfires when they destroy his house instead. Surreal adventures take over as the trio travel to the center of the earth, trek across frozen tundra and discover a parallel underwater universe where pointy-headed (and dishonest!) creatures live. With panic a permanent feature of life in this papier mâché town, will Horse and his girlfriend ever be alone?
Bijzonder bizar!
  14. The Lego Movie / Phil Lord & Christopher Miller / 2014 / **
An ordinary Lego construction worker, thought to be the prophesied ‘Special’, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the Lego universe into eternal stasis.
Puik.
  15. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time / Mamoru Hosoda / 2006 / ***
A teenage girl finds that she has the ability to leap through time. With her newfound power, she tries to use it to her advantage, but soon finds that tampering with time can lead to some rather discomforting results.
  16. Deadly Weekend / Jason Sutton / 2013 / 0
Two young couples take one last trip to the country before moving to different cities. Unfortunately, when secrets come out and jealously takes a toll the weekend takes an unexpected and deadly turn for the worst.
  17. Annabelle / John R. Leonetti / 2014 / 1/2
A couple begins to experience terrifying supernatural occurrences involving a vintage doll shortly after their home is invaded by satanic cultists.
  18. The One I Love / Charlie McDowell / 2014 / *
Struggling with a marriage on the brink of falling apart, a couple escapes for a weekend in pursuit of their better selves, only to discover an unusual dilemma that awaits them.
Nice try, maar: geloofwaardigheid = nul.
  19. The Perks of Being a Wallflower / Stephen Chbosky / 2012 / ***
An introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.
  21. The Equalizer / Antoine Fuqua / 2014 / *1/2
A man believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and has dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when he meets a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by – he has to help her.
  22. The Captive / Atom Egoyan / 2014 / ***
Eight years after the disappearance of Cassandra, some disturbing incidents seem to indicate that she’s still alive. Police, parents and Cassandra herself, will try to unravel the mystery of her disappearance.
Men is voor of tegen Egoyan, blijkbaar.
  23. No Good Deed / Sam Miller / 2014 / 1/2
An unstable escaped convict terrorizes a woman who is alone with her two children.
  24. These Final Hours / Zak Hilditch / 2014 / *1/2
A self-obsessed young man makes his way to the party-to-end-all-parties on the last day on Earth, but ends up saving the life of a little girl searching for her father. Their relationship ultimately leads him on the path to redemption.
  25. Nikita / Luc Besson / 1991 / **1/2
Convicted felon Nikita, instead of going to jail, is given a new identity and trained, stylishly, as a top secret spy/assassin.
  26. Léon / Luc Besson / 1994 / ***1/2
Mathilda, a 12-year-old girl, is reluctantly taken in by Léon, a professional assassin, after her family is murdered. Léon and Mathilda form an unusual relationship, as she becomes his protégée and learns the assassin’s trade.
  27. The Terminator / James Cameron / 1984 / ***1/2
A human-looking indestructible cyborg is sent from 2029 to 1984 to assassinate a waitress, whose unborn son will lead humanity in a war against the machines, while a soldier from that war is sent to protect her at all costs.
I’ll be back is dé onsterfelijke quote die u uit deze eerste terminator meedraagt.
  28. Terminator 2: Judgement Day / James Cameron / 1991 / ***
A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her nine-year-old son, John, from a more advanced cyborg, made out of liquid metal.

  2. Flour Water Salt Yeast / Ken Forkish / 2012
From Portland’s most acclaimed and beloved baker comes this must-have baking guide, featuring recipes for world-class breads and pizzas and a variety of schedules suited for the home baker.
Beste boek om gistbrood te maken.
  3. Personal / Lee Child / 2014
Jack Reacher walks alone. Once a go-to hard man in the US military police, now he’s a drifter of no fixed abode. But the army tracks him down. Because someone has taken a long-range shot at the French president. Only one man could have done it. And Reacher is the one man who can find him.
Geen kwaad woord over Jack reacher.
  4. We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves / Karen Joy Fowler / 2013
As a child, Rosemary used to talk all the time. So much so that her parents used to tell her to start in the middle if she wanted to tell a story. Now Rosemary has just started college and she barely talks at all. And she definitely doesn’t talk about her family. So we’re not going to tell you too much either: you’ll have to find out for yourself what it is that makes her unhappy family unlike any other. Rosemary is now an only child, but she used to have a sister the same age as her, and an older brother. Both are now gone – vanished from her life. But there’s something unique about Rosemary’s sister, Fern. So now she’s telling her story; a looping narrative that begins towards the end, and then goes back to the beginning. Twice.
  5. The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August / Claire North / 2014
Harry August is on his deathbed. Again. No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes. Until now. As Harry nears the end of his eleventh life, a little girl appears at his bedside. ‘I nearly missed you, Doctor August,’ she says. ‘I need to send a message.’
  6. The Escape (John Puller #3) / David Baldacci / 2014
Military CID investigator John Puller has returned from his latest case to learn that his brother, Robert, once a major in the United States Air Force and an expert in nuclear weaponry and cyber-security, has escaped from the Army’s most secure prison. Preliminary investigations show that Robert – convicted of treason – may have had help in his breakout. Now he’s on the run, and he’s the military’s number one target.
  7. Panic / Lauren Oliver / 2014
Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do. Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.
Grmpf.
  8. We Were Liars / E. Lockhart / 2014
A beautiful and distinguished family. A private island. A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy. A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive. A revolution. An accident. A secret. Lies upon lies. True love. The truth.
Of vrijwilligerswerk doen.
  10. Tartine Bread / Chad Robertson / 2010
For the home or professional bread-maker, this is the book of the season. It comes from a man many consider to be the best bread baker in the United States: Chad Robertson, co-owner of Tartine Bakery in San Francisco, a city that knows its bread. To Chad, bread is the foundation of a meal, the center of daily life, and each loaf tells the story of the baker who shaped it. He developed his unique bread over two decades of apprenticeship with the finest artisan bakers in France and the United States, as well as experimentation in his own ovens. Readers will be astonished at how elemental it is. A hundred photographs from years of testing, teaching, and recipe development provide step-by-step inspiration, while additional recipes provide inspiration for using up every delicious morsel.
  11. Tartine Book No. 3 / Chad Robertson / 2013
The narrative of Chad Robertson’s search for ancient flavors in heirloom grains is interwoven with 85 recipes for whole-grain versions of Tartine favorites. Robertson shares his groundbreaking new methods of bread baking including new techniques for whole-grain loaves, as well as porridge breads and loaves made with sprouted grains.

  • Bidouille et Violette – Intégrale (Bidouille et Violette) / Bernard Hislaire / 2013
  • Sex Criminals, Vol. 1: One Weird Trick / Matt Fraction / 2014
Suzie’s just a regular gal with an irregular gift: when she has sex, she stops time. One day she meets Jon and it turns out he has the same ability. And sooner or later they get around to using their gifts to do what we’d ALL do: rob a couple banks. A bawdy and brazen sex comedy for comics begins here!
Bon. Lezen!
  • The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil / Stephen Collins / 2013
On the buttoned-down island of Here, all is well. By which we mean: orderly, neat, contained and, moreover, beardless. Or at least it is until one famous day, when Dave, bald but for a single hair, finds himself assailed by a terrifying, unstoppable… monster*! Where did it come from? How should the islanders deal with it? And what, most importantly, are they going to do with Dave?
  • Chassé-Croisé (Largo Winch #19) / Jean Van Hamme & Philippe Francq / 2014
