Zit goed in elkaar; ik blijf de boeken een niveau hoger vinden dan de televisieserie. - Marie / Christophe Vekeman / 2013
Pft. Vlaamse moeilijkdoenerij. - The Ocean At The End Of The Lane / Neil Gaiman / 2013
It began for our narrator forty years ago when the family lodger stole their car and committed suicide in it, stirring up ancient powers best left undisturbed. Dark creatures from beyond the world are on the loose, and it will take everything our narrator has just to stay alive: there is primal horror here, and menace unleashed – within his family and from the forces that have gathered to destroy it. His only defense is three women, on a farm at the end of the lane. The youngest of them claims that her duckpond is ocean. The oldest can remember the Big Bang.
Neil Gaiman blijft toch één van de beste hedendaagse schrijvers. Een fantastisch boek over jeugd en magie en herinneringen, dat zich met veel plezier laat lezen. - An Abundance Of Katherines / John Green / 2006
When it comes to relationships, Colin Singleton’s type is girls named Katherine. And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped. Nineteen times, to be exact. On a road trip miles from home, this anagram-happy, washedup child prodigy has ten thousand dollars in his pocket, a bloodthirsty feral hog on his trail, and an overweight, Judge Judy-loving best friend riding shotgun–but no Katherines. Colin is on a mission to prove The Theorem of Underlying Katherine Predictability, which he hopes will predict the future of any relationship, avenge Dumpees everywhere, and finally win him the girl.
Goed geschreven, een beetje voorspelbaar, maar ik heb er toch van genoten. Bijzonder aan te raden voor het (jongere) doelpubliek. Eens zien wat Henri ervan vindt.
